Rescuers release stranded humpback whale near German coast after barge transport
The Guardian describes the release of a young humpback whale, nicknamed Timmy or Hope, that had been beached on the German shoreline. Marine experts warned the rescue – which involved moving the calf on a water‑filled barge to the North Sea off Denmark – was ‘inadvisable’ and its survival odds were low, but the animal was nonetheless set free.
